Polar opposites coexist. They collide. They interact. They validate.
This series investigates the relationships between two opposing energies. I am intrigued by the omnipresence of dualities in life - opposite energies that exist in any given subject such as day and night, life and death, pain and pleasure. I feel the contrary nature of almost everything in life is paradoxically complementary, and that opposition is in fact an essential element of each other’s existence. Recognizing contrast is vital to understanding the true value of the other.
The body of work focuses on the impacts that opposites have on each other. It could be a violent collision. It could be a subtle action leading to infinite ramifications. It could be a persistent pressure that is being embraced by the other ever so gently. There always is a moment when this exchange of energy takes place when opposing elements encounter and entwine. These moments highlight the differences of the two, yet also portray their integration, transformation, and acceptance.
